Gabriela Marques Di Giulio

Gabriela Marques Di Giulio is Associate Professor in the Environmental Health Department, at the University of São Paulo (USP). Over her academic career, she has been working on the interactions between environmental crises and socio-cultural contexts, analyzing how these interactions are embedded and expressed in social practices, conflicts and decision-making processes. Her main research focuses are related with climate change and adaptation; governance and communication of risks and uncertainties; and transition to sustainability. More recently, she is exploring how local governments are coping with public policies and actions for fostering adaptation and sustainability, and the complex interactions between science and policy. She also works on critical analysis regarding the interactions of global crises (e.g. climate emergency, covid-19 pandemic) and their impacts on framings and practices of sustainability.
