Camila Hohlenwerger

Postdoctoral Team

Camila is a biologist (UFBA), master and Ph.D. in Ecology (USP) with extensive experience in Landscape Ecology and Ecosystem Services. Her research focus includes theoretical and applied estimates of ecosystem services in human-dominated landscapes. Currently, her main research objectives have been to understand how the provision of multiple ecosystem services can be hindered or enhanced by the landscape structure, as well as its management. More specifically, Camila has been studying how landscape configuration and composition can act as a common driver of changes in the provision of pollination and pest control services, and how these complex relationships affect agricultural productivity. Currently as a postdoctoral researcher in the Biota Síntese project, she seeks to understand how urban landscape attributes affect the provision of ecosystem services in large cities. In particular, Camila is interested in investigating how nature-based solutions and urban interventions are able to improve the overall health and quality of life of the urban population. Her research seeks to understand and integrate practices and interventions that provide benefits to both human societies and biodiversity. She has experience with diverse types of quantitative analysis, research and data synthesis, and spatial ecology. Further, she combines data from multiple sources to identify how and where ecosystem service delivery to people can also generate most benefits or co-benefits to biodiversity. Finally, Camila understands that the best way to produce knowledge and create effective and democratic solutions is through collaborative, diverse and harmonious work. Thus, she is always willing to participate and learn from collective interactions.
