Pedro Brancalion

Pedro H. S. Brancalion is an associate professor at the Department of Forest Sciences, “Luiz de Queiroz” College of Agriculture, University of São Paulo, where he coordinates the Laboratory of Tropical Forestry. He is currently the vice-coordinator of the Atlantic Forest Restoration Pact and affiliated member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. His research focuses on the development of cost-effective solutions to conserve and restore tropical forests, based on interdisciplinary research and co-production of knowledge with multiple stakeholder groups. More recently, he has led large research and technology projects integrating cutting edge remote sensing techniques, novel modeling approaches, and extensive field assessments to upscale restoration monitoring and guide decision making both at the private and public sectors. He was recognized as a highly cited researcher in 2021 in the Web of Science.
