Paula Ribeiro Prist

Paula Ribeiro Prist is a Senior Research Scientist and lead of the Conservation & Health team at the EcoHealth Alliance. Since 2011 she has been working with the links between land use change, deforestation and zoonotic diseases, essentially in tropical areas. Her main research focus is related with landscape management, forest restoration and landscape planning, trying to understand how landscape structure affects the risk of transmission and occurrence of zoonotic diseases, and how we can manage landscapes to make them “healthier” for people. More recently she is exploring the relationships between landscape structure and ecosystem services provision, as pollutant absorption and the maintenance of human health in general; and integrating the One Health approach in the creation of Protected Areas in West Africa.
